by Jan Blomquist 23. December 2008 00:06

Beta 2 of Gaia Ajax 3.5 is available now. A big thank you to all the beta testers in the community. Also a big thank you to Pavol who has contributed the FileUpload control to the CommunityExtensions project. The FileUpload control was entirely created, uploaded, updated and maintained by Pavol in the Wiki. It's now available in this beta. The download link below contains release and debug dlls + the gaiax skin.

The 3.5 release is getting very stable and all projects running Gaia 3.0 SP1 should upgrade without any problem. If you experience annoying issues with Gaia 3.0 this upgrade is a must have. Please read the beta1 release blog to get a list of all the issues that are part of the 3.5 release.

Path forward

If you are still reading, you are probably curios about the path forward and our plans for the final release. Many of the remaining tasks include peripheral issues like

  • Wrap up installers
  • Finish VS.NET Design Time Support
  • Verify all A-list browsers
  • Receive more feedback on the betas to ensure product quality
These tasks shouldn't take too much time, but unless you live in a cave you known that it's christmas and we need some time off too. We're heading for a full release somewhere between 5-10th of January 2009.

Dino Esposito visits Gaiaware and Grenland

by Jan Blomquist 19. December 2008 12:02

World renown book author and architect Dino Esposito paid Gaiaware a visit last week for technical discussions and to have evening presentations for the local Developer forum. It's no secret that Dino is particular fond of the Gaia Ajax toolkit.

"In the past few years, so many times I changed my mind on the most effective way to get AJAX in ASP.NET. In the end, it has to be a way that doesn’t force you away from the programming model of ASP.NET and offers new and effective tools for the new AJAX challenges. Gaiaware just does it. " - Dino

Gaia Ajax 3.5 "Themis" Beta 1

by Jan Blomquist 15. December 2008 01:00

We know Smile The official release date for Gaia Ajax 3.5 codenamed "Themis" was today and in your eagerness to get our 3.5 release you woke up earlier than you are used too, skipped breakfast and called in sick at the office to spend the day fiddling with Gaia instead ... only to discover that the final release is delayed. However, we're proud of releasing an almost feature complete beta of the 3.5 release. The zip contains debug and release dlls + our gaiax theme. The final release will also contain installer, source code and designers. The beta should be quite stable and it was almost heads or tails wheter we wanted to label it a release candidate or a beta. There are a few known issues! Make sure you read those before submitting bug reports.
